How to use a hint without giving up the grid
Read the colour
Yellow is the easy group; purple is the trap. Start where the ramp tells you to start.
Take one word
The single word is enough to name the category in your head. The other three stay sealed.
Open the group
Only when you are stuck. The category and all four words appear together, never one by one.
Connections hint FAQ
What is today's Connections hint?
This page gives you four safe clues for the current Connections puzzle: the colour and difficulty of each group, the first letter of its category, and one word from inside it. The category title and the other three words stay hidden until you press Reveal group.
Will this page spoil today's Connections?
No. When the page loads, it shows no category title and no group word. You ask for one word, then for one group, one card at a time. Nothing is printed in the page source before you press a button.
How are the group hints chosen?
They come from the puzzle itself: the four groups in difficulty order, the first letter of each category, and a deterministic word from each group. The page does not use a fixed answer list, so it follows the daily puzzle.
What do the four colours mean?
Yellow is the most straightforward group, then green, blue and purple for the trickiest. The label beside each colour repeats the difficulty in words, so you do not need to memorise the ramp.
When does this page update?
It refreshes every hour. The puzzle date follows New York time, where a new Connections appears at midnight ET. The page always shows the puzzle for the current New York date.
Where can I play more word and category games?
Play Category Clash to sort words into groups against the clock, or browse the free word games hub for crosswords, anagrams, typing races and daily puzzles that run in the browser without a download.
More than four groups?
Anagrams, typing races and word searches are one tap away.
