How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute (WPM) counts every 5 characters you type as one word, so longer words count more. Your final WPM is the total correct characters divided by 5, divided by elapsed minutes.
Does every mistake count against me?
Yes. Accuracy is correct characters divided by total characters typed. Your score is WPM × accuracy, so precision matters as much as speed.

How long is a Typing Speed round?
60 seconds. The countdown does not start until you type the first printable character, so you can read the first word without burning the clock. When time hits 0 the WPM × accuracy score is locked.
Does Typing Speed get harder as I go?
Yes, automatically. The first 5 prompts are short easy words, prompts 6–15 switch to medium words, and from prompt 16 you type full pangram-style sentences. There is no difficulty menu — keep completing words to climb.
Does backspace erase my mistakes from accuracy?
No. Backspace fixes the current word so you can finish it, but totalTyped and totalCorrect never decrement — every wrong keystroke stays in accuracy = correct ÷ typed. Score is round(WPM × accuracy ÷ 100). Type clean instead of fast-and-fix.
Is my best score saved, and can two people race?
No saved best — each 60s run stands alone. Solo only, keyboard required (a hidden input captures keys; phones without keyboards cannot play well). Free in the browser, no download, no account.
Do unfinished words count toward my WPM?
Yes. WPM uses every correct keystroke in the 60 seconds, including the word you were still typing when the clock hit 0. Finishing a prompt only loads the next one — leftover untyped letters are not scored. The bank is fixed English words then pangram sentences; there is no custom text, pause, or saved best.
